Abstract

CHAPA CANTU, Joana Cecilia; RANGEL GONZALEZ, Erick  and  MOSQUEDA CHAVEZ, Marco Tulio. Analysis of expansive and redistributive effects of Programa para el Bienestar de las Personas Adultas Mayores in Mexico and its regions. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2022, vol.41, n.87, pp.569-608.  Epub Jan 24, 2023. ISSN 0121-4772.  https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v41n87.90765.

We analyze the Programa para el Bienestar de las Personas Adultas Mayores, for which its operation rules were modified for the 2019 fiscal year (target population and amount of cash transfer). Through the social accounting matrices for north, north center, center and south of Mexico, we simulate the expansive and redistributive effects of this changes. We conclude that the central region of Mexico is the one that is most benefited in comparison with the rest of the country. However, it is in the southern region where there is a further expansion in the income of the poorest.
