Abstract

LOPEZ FIGUEROA, José Carlos. THINKING THE TERRITORY FROM ORGANIZATIONAL STUDIES: CONVERSATIONS FOR ORGANIZATIONAL ANALYSIS IN THE SPATIAL DIMENSION. Innovar [online]. 2021, vol.31, n.79, pp.89-101.  Epub Feb 17, 2021. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v31n79.91891.

This paper presents a series of conversations between territories and organizational studies in Latin America based on four paradigms: complex systems, power, culture, and governance. In addition, this work proposes a new meaning for the concept of territory: It is conceived as an organizational field from organizational studies. Reflecting on the territory in this way not only allows finding new alternatives to understand, explain or analyze this actor, but will also make it possible to advance in the study of organizations by incorporating the territorial dimension. The central premise under this approach is to understand the existence of organizations within the spatial dimension, thus granting this dimension an organizational feature. This work concludes with some questions that could help advance in the construction of an organizational research agenda for enhancing the conversations around organizational studies in Latin America.

Keywords : Organizational studies; organizational field; organizations; organizational paradigms; territory.
