Abstract
PALACIO VELEZ, Andrés Camilo. A Conceptual and Political Reconstruction of the Blank Vote in Colombia. Chronicle of a Debate. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2022, n.63, pp.186-208. Epub July 21, 2022. ISSN 0121-5167. https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.espo.n63a08.
Blank voting is a mechanism that is increasingly being echoed in contemporary democracy. His readings go through discussions in the field of political parties, citizen participation, collective action, social protest, as well as legal and political discussions on their applicability, efficiency and effectiveness for democracy. The present work, based on a documentary review, aims to synthesize the way in which this mechanism has been debated from two specific areas. First, of an academic nature from the theoretical production of the blank vote and the other taken from the debates in the Congress of the Republic of Colombia, a country in which greater political effects are conferred to the norm. It is possible to glimpse that, although the bibliography is not prolific, there are marked lines in the study of this electoral rule that tend to understand it from what it should be, although with some hints as a tool that can be used strategically.
