Abstract

FIEGELIST VENTURELLI, BORIS ALEJANDRO. The relevance of negotiation in Chilean legal education. A comparative analysis. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2019, n.51, pp.6-28.  Epub Mar 14, 2020. ISSN 0121-8697.  https://doi.org/10.14482/dere.51.342.01.

The purpose of this study is to determine the importance of negotiation skills in the Chilean legal education and then to compare this reality with the experience of this subject in the North American system; and thus, be able to propose measures of improvements to the Chilean system. In order to do so, we will analyze the reasons that justify the incorporation of the negotiation skill in the Chilean legal education. Then, the exit profiles and curricula of the Chilean Law Schools incorporating the negotiation skill will be described; and how the Law School Accreditation Standards currently in force in Chile, takes care of it. Finally, the Chilean reality will be contrasted with the North American experience in this matter, in the recent years.

Keywords : Negotiation skill; legal education; comparative analysis.
