During the nineteenth century The Colombian Catholic Church experienced a process of consolidation determined by a growing internal organization and an affirmation of their social influence. The foundation of the Diocese of Nueva Pamplona in 1835, represents one of the early initiatives such reorganization, focusing on the Tridentine reform and the progressive engagement with the Holy See. This article discusses this early ecclesiastical restoration that combines the creation of the vicarage of the bishopric, the realization of the first pastoral visit, and the creation of diocesan seminary in the period between 1835 and 1853.
