Abstract
ZARAMA RINCON, Rosa Isabel. The concepts of Pasto defenders of the just cause during the war of Independence, 1812-1824. Mem. Soc. [online]. 2018, vol.22, n.44, pp.82-101. ISSN 0122-5197. https://doi.org/10.11144/javeriana.mys22-44.cpdj.
This article refers to the women's participation in the War of Independence. The aim is to analyze the realistic position of the Conceptas of Pasto, a religious congregation in Colombia, in order to explain their participation in the political scene of that time. Their commitment lasted over twelve years (1812-1824), but it was during the last two years of war where it became particularly relevant. Also, while the defeat of their allies forced them to accept the new government, they were not unscathed from the conflict: they were politically defeated, and their properties were looted.
Keywords : independency; Pasto; conceptas; political par ticipation and woman.
