Abstract
ORTEGA-VILLA, Luz María; MENDEZ-FIERROS, Hugo Edgardo and VIZCARRA, Fernando. Crossroads: Communication and Culture Studies Along Mexico's Northeastern Border. Palabra Clave [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.1, pp.154-181. ISSN 0122-8285.
This essay presents a brief outlook on the main authors whose work and theory have influenced research on culture and communication along Mexico's Northeastern border, which is evidenced in academic production in Baja California. Its purpose is to determine the core themes that have grounded academic thought on culture and communication along this border with the U.S. The conjunction between Anglo Saxon and European theoretic and practical outlooks is identified; it also acknowledges that the contexts that ground cultural and communication processes in Latin America -specifically in that region of Mexico- establish particular problems and agendas that are being addressed using specific analytical and methodological practices that identify and give meaning to cultural/ communication studies in the region.
Keywords : Cultural studies; communication; border; US-Mexico.
