Abstract
ALVAREZ RODRIGUEZ, IGNACIO. The Constitutional Roles of the Government in Spain. Rev. Derecho Estado [online]. 2023, n.56, pp.163-190. Epub May 15, 2023. ISSN 0122-9893. https://doi.org/10.18601/01229893.n56.06.
This text is an up-to-date on the functions that the Spanish Constitution of 1978 attributes to the Executive branch, one of the three classical powers and perhaps the most important in the daily becoming of national affairs. To this end, a brief review of the issue is made from a comparative perspective and from the constitutional history of the homeland, and then we move on to analyze each of the constitutional functions that it must undertake, based on the classic divide between the function of political leadership, the role of leading the civil and military administration and the exercise of regulatory power. We will then make a reference to the control of their acts, political and legally, as well as to the aid work provided to the Government by some institutional bodies such as the Council of State and the Court of Auditors to conclude with a final reflection that will fully state the resulting findings.
