Abstract

This study presents primarily the butterflies fauna found in the High Chocó region,Municipality of San José del Palmar and surrounding areas through a list of 406 species included in 219 genera,recorded inan estimate close to 450 species. This contribution concludes that the Choco butterflies inventories are of large importance for future regional work since they facilitate knowing the truly richness in species and the finding of species unknown for Science. Additionally, some data related with biodiversity in the area and notes on conservation are provided.
