Abstract

SALAS-BOURGOIN, María Andreina; MONTERO, Gloria Yulier Cadena; FIGHERA, Delfina Trinca  and  PULIDO, Nubis Miriam. The Socio-Productive Model Launched by the Venezuelan State, 2007-2013: Some Territorial Impacts. Perspectiva Geográfica [online]. 2014, vol.19, n.2, pp.259-288.  Epub June 04, 2024. ISSN 0123-3769.

In order to approach some Venezuelan socio-productive model territorial impacts, it is necessary to know some backgrounds about the organization of space, as well as identifying the reasons and premises under which the Venezuelan state launches a "new productive economic model".

To implement this new model, the State bases its policies, plans and programs proposing changes in social relations of production, which includes the territorial aspect. This policy is in a design/implementation stage and involves structural changes producing resistance and controversies in important Venezuelan population sectors. In the face of this situation, the question arises, which are the guidelines, conflicts, and possible territorial impacts of this model?

To answer this question, it is necessary to know the background of the territorial policy, to characterize the proposed model, to analyze the instruments and mechanisms created to launch it, to revise some experiences about implementation and their results; eventually, to systematize conflicts and their features, including the territorial aspect.

Keywords : socio-productive model; land use management; space organization; territorial policies.
