Abstract

ACOSTA-JIMENEZ, Wilson Armando. Cinema as an Object of Study of History: Conceptual and Methodological Approaches. Folios [online]. 2018, n.47, pp.50-68. ISSN 0123-4870.

During the 1960s, movies became subject of study in the field of thistory. As a result, they were assumed as sources that enabled the analysis of versions of the past and the questioning of the present. This research article addresses the academic production that, from a history standpoint, has offered the theoretical support for movies as an object of the interpretations that have predominated over the recent and distant past. The text accounts for pioneering works, the conceptual and methodological developments in Spain and Latin America, and the analytical contributions to understand the versions of the past circulating in the films.

Keywords : History; cinema; historical research; social theory; methodology.
