Abstract

RIVODO, Joussette. TRANSFORMATION AND RESONANCE OF THE FAIRY TALE IN IDA GRAMCKO'S THE MAGIC WAND AND GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S THE LABYRINTH OF THE FAUN. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.1, pp.67-89. ISSN 0123-5931.

The article examines the way in which three poems and a movie rewrite certain images taken from the tradition of the fairy tale. To this end, it analyzes a few common thematic aspects: the voyage of initiation of a female character, the trials which this voyage implies, and the contexts (both generic and esthetic) of each work. Particular attention is paid to the elements of the tale which grow in passing through languages different from literary narrative in the strict sense of the word, and to what we learn about the creator's work from this play of intertexts, supported by the statements of the authors themselves.

Keywords : fairy tale; theme; voyage of initiation; trials; metaphor; horror.
