Abstract

AKCELRUD DURAO, Fabio. Transformations in the Idea of the University and the Brazilian Case. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2015, vol.17, n.2, pp.41-58. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v17n2.51272.

The growing division of intellectual labor has led to a proliferation of (sub)sub-fields of study. Gains achieved by specialization, in terms of characterizing their object of study, have been matched by the loss of a holistic vision (with "the whole" now essentially considered an anathema). The present text discusses, firstly, the wide-ranging mutations that the idea and practice of the university have gone through. From there, the article turns to reflections on this dynamic in the field of literary studies, with the Brazilian context providing a backdrop.

Keywords : Brazil; Neoliberalism; Theory; University.
