Abstract
ALVES, Marco Antônio Sousa. The Author as Authority: Anonymity and Changes in the Order of Books. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.1, pp.185-208. Epub Apr 06, 2021. ISSN 0123-5931. https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v23n1.87671.
Starting from Foucault's proposals on the emergence of modern authorship, this article investigates the production of the author as an authority in the 14th and 15th centuries. Based on Roger Chartier, we intend to resume the project of a genealogy of the literary author through a return to the manuscript culture of the late Middle Ages making emphasis on discursive materiality. We will deal with the transformations that took place in the book form and in medieval practices, widely marked by anonymity towards new modern forms of creation, circulation, ordering, appropriation, and reception of discourse, centered on author function.
Keywords : anonymity; authorship; authority; Chartier; book form; author function.
