Abstract
VALENCIA-VARGAS, Alejandra; HOYOS-DUQUE, Sergio Iván and VASQUEZ-TRESPALACIOS, Elsa María. Factors associated with survival a one year of operated patients with cancer ampullary or pancreas. Rev. salud pública [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.6, pp.913-925. ISSN 0124-0064. https://doi.org/10.15446/rsap.v18n6.42435.
Objective
Determine the factors associated with survival a one year of patients operated with ampullary and pancreatic tumors.
Materials and Methods
A retrospective descriptive study of a cohort of patients with application of survival analysis based on secondary data. Absolute and relative frequencies for qualitative variables were estimated; and measures of central tendency and dispersion for quantitative variables. Overall survival was estimate by the Kaplan-Meier method, in the bivariate analysis was used the Log-Rank test and to establish the factors associated with survival was made a model Proportional Hazards of Cox.
Results
The survival a one year of 70 operated patients was 62,5 %. Factors associated with survival were adjusted sepsis, postoperative bleeding, carcinoembryonic antigen, red cell transfusion, intraoperative bleeding, previous abdominal surgeries and age.
Conclusions
The knowledge obtained from the survival a one year of patients operated with pancreatic and ampullary cancer, will create intervention strategies associated factors, generate more information that may lead to improve prognosis and reduce mortality.
