Abstract

KRUMM, Gabriela; ARAN-FILIPPETTI, Vanessa  and  LOPEZ, Mariana Beatriz. Creativity assessment: two normative studies of the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT), Figural, Forms A and B in Argentine children. Psicogente [online]. 2024, vol.27, n.51, pp.46-69.  Epub Jan 01, 2024. ISSN 0124-0137.  https://doi.org/10.17081/psico.27.51.6419.

Objective:

The present study aims to develop normative data for the TTCT Figural Form-A and Form-B in school-age children, to employ the instrument for diagnostic purposes and in educational settings.

Method:

To this end, we conducted two empirical studies. In study 1, the Figural TTCT-Form A was administered to 859 school children of both sexes, between 8 and 13 years old. In Study 2, the Figural TTCT-Form B was administered to 739 children of both sexes aged 6 to 13 years. For both studies, MANOVA was performed to analyze the effect of age, sex, and their interaction.

Results:

Studies 1 and 2 showed a significant effect of age and sex, but not for the interaction between age x sex on TTCT scores. Normative values were computed according to sex and age.

Conclusion:

Our normative data for the Figural TTCT-Form A and B, which were established for the first time for Argentinean children, can be useful for the assessment of creativity and the recognition of creative abilities in students.
