Abstract

Objective:
The article is a systematic review, based on a bibliometric analysis to analyze the progress and evolution of the scientific production of knowledge management (KM) and small and medium-sized companies (SMES), from 1999 to 2022. The search for the documents was performed in the Scopus database with a total of 836 articles.
Methodology:
It is based on the choice of the database used, followed by the search criteria, the exploration was performed in English, generating the analysis of the data through two aspects: performance analysis and scientific mapping.
Key findings:
As a result of the analysis, it was possible to identify growth in the last ten years in the productivity of scientific journals that address KM. Much of the productivity was generated in industrialized countries, with the United Kingdom being the main producer, the same occurs with the ten most representative magazines. Conclusions: the most cited article did not coincide with the co-occurrence map on the 20 most co-cited research on KM and SMES.
