Abstract

RIVERA-GOMEZ, Marisol  and  GIRALDO, Alan. Species richness of euphausiids (Arthropoda: Malacostraca: Euphausiacea) of the Colombian Pacific basin. Biota colombiana [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.2, pp.35-45. ISSN 0124-5376.  https://doi.org/10.21068/c2018.v19n02a04.

We analyzed euphausiid species composition from zooplankton samples collected during the Pacífico-ERFEN cruises in September of 2009, October of 2011 and September of 2012 in the Colombian Pacific basin. A total of 15 species (5 genera) were identified. Nine of the 15 species have been previously reported for the Colombian Pacific basin, whereas the other 6 species (Thysanopoda monacantha, Euphausia lamelligera, E. gibboides, Stylocheiron longicorne, S. maximum, and Nematoscelis tenella) were first reported in the area of study. These six species have been reported in waters adjacent to the Colombian Pacific basin (Gulf of Panama, and the Pacific coast of Ecuador and Costa Rica).

Keywords : Crustacea; Eastern Tropical Pacific; Euphausiacea; New records; Zooplankton.
