Abstract
GROS, Alexis Emanuel. Alfred Schutz, an unusual phenomenologist: a systematic reconstruction of Husserl's reception of schutz. discus.filos [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.29, pp.149-173. ISSN 0124-6127. https://doi.org/10.17151/difil.2016.17.29.10.
In this paper, I intend to systematically reconstruct Schutz's reading of Husserl's phenomenology. In order to do so, I will proceed in four steps. First (1), I will sketch Schutz's unusual approach to Husserl's thought; second (2), I will examine his reading of the Husserlian transcendental phenomenology; third (3), I will scrutinize Husserl's distinction between phenomenological psychology and transcendental phenomenology; and finally (4), I will reconstruct the reasons why Schutz opts for the former over the latter. The main conclusion is that two different kinds of motives impel him to practice phenomenological psychology, namely, (a) programmatic and (b) philosophical ones.
