Abstract

MOLINATTI, Florencia; ROJAS-CABRERA, Eleonora  and  PELAEZ, Enrique. Intra-urban residential mobility in low-income neighborhoods. Córdoba (Argentina). Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.2, pp.71-80. ISSN 0124-7913.

This paper aims to analyze the relationship between some factors related to residential mobility and the willingness to move in contexts of poverty. Taking into account the limitations of official information in Argentina for studying this issue, we used data from an own-designed survey conducted in four districts in the city of Cordoba, during June 2011. Among the findings, we observe that the willingness to intra-urban residential mobility is influenced by objective (type of neighborhood) and subjective (level of trust in neighbors and perception of the neighborhood's prestige) factors. These factors, and the unequal distribution of opportunities, highlight the complexity of this phenomenon.

Keywords : intra-urban residential mobility; unequal distribution of opportunities; segregation; poverty.
