Abstract

FERRELLI, Federico  and  PICCOLO, María Cintia. Study of climatic comfort in a micro-local scale. The case of Bahía Blanca (Argentina). Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.3, pp.91-100. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v27n3.56995.

The study of comfort is relevant because provides information to generate urban planning policies. In this context, climate comfort was studied in Bahia Blanca city, Argentina applying different time-scales: seasonal (summer and winter), monthly and daily. Ten meteorological stations that registered temperature and relative humidity information in high frequency were located in diverse neighborhoods. Humidex, thermo-anemometric and thermo-hygrometric indexes were calculated to characterize the summer comfort as well as equivalent temperature for the winter. The results permitted to identify different areas according to the discomfort and comfort conditions during the summer and winter considering the number of days with temperatures below o°C. Three urban areas were delimited considering similar comfort conditions. The study could be relevant to the design of public policies in order to prevent negative effects of extreme thermal event on the inhabitants.

Keywords : summer and winter climate comfort; high frequency data, Bahía Blanca, urban planning.
