Abstract

MILAN, Melissa. The body as territory. Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.3, pp.155-160. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v27n3.66907.

This essay gives an account of a mapping exercise of proximity, referring to the body as territory. Based on the life story of a Salvadoran woman, it seeks to identify the perception she has about her body in the light of six categories: work, family, domestic activities, care activities, vulnerability and self-care. In addition, this perception will be contrasted in relation of two other categories: the housing municipality (Ahuachapán and San Salvador) and the time of history (armed and postwar conflict).

Keywords : territory; territorialization; body; cartography.
