Abstract

TOBON A., Alexander  and  GALVIS, Diana. Analysis of the recent developments in Colombian transport sector. Perf. de Coyunt. Econ. [online]. 2009, n.13, pp.147-163. ISSN 1657-4214.

The public transportation sector plays an important role in the consolidation of globalization and competitiveness processes in Colombia. In this sense, there is an internal transformation of the sector accented by the growth of the urban population. This article simulates a descriptive analysis of the transportation sector in Colombia in the past few years, using the methodology applied by DANE. Some of the conclusions are: that there is cyclical behavior between national GDP and private consumption with respect to the transportation sector, and also that the traditional public transportation sector and the mass transportation system are non-complementary.

Keywords : sector transports; systems of transport; urban public transport.
