Hemispheric electrical integration has become the focus of cohesion and development in the Americas. For over two decades efforts have been made to interconnect these nations, but only at the VI Cumbre de las Américas (2012), with the signing of Conectar a las Américas 20-22, achieved a significant political breakthrough. The article presents the proposed hemispheric electrical integration, shows the dynamics of the electricity market, advances in the subregional integration agreements and challenges left by the VI Cumbre.
