Abstract
SAGARO, Eduardo. Persistent diarrhea. Colomb. Med. [online]. 2007, vol.38, n.1, suppl.1, pp.66-70. ISSN 1657-9534.
In the worlds developing countries, the cycle of malnutrition, malabsorption, and persistent diarrhea is one of the leading causes of death in children. It is most often caused by an enteric infection. Evaluation of the patient with persistent diarrhea should start with certain screening studies. The prognosis for persistent diarrhea has been markedly improved through the use of enteral diets and parenteral nutrition.
