Abstract

ARIAS-PEREZ, José; DURANGO YEPES, Carlos Mario  and  MILLAN LOPEZ, Nora Teresa. Process innovation capability and innovation performance: the mediating effect of product innovation capability. AD-minister [online]. 2015, n.27, pp.75-93. ISSN 1692-0279.  https://doi.org/10.17230/ad-minister.27.4.

Although in recent years it has grown investment and the use of resources in R&D by the private sector in Colombia, the number of companies that innovate in strict sense has been greatly reduced. However, studies that have been done around this paradox, they have only demonstrated the limitations of the positive effect of process innovation capability (IC) on innovation performance (IP). Therefore, the aim of this paper is to establish the mediating effect of product IC on the relationship between process IC and IP in a sample of manufacturing firms. Structural equation modeling was used to test the proposed model and a bootstrap-percentile analysis was performed to check the existence of mediation. Regarding the results, it was found that there is a partial mediation. Therefore, the development of IC products is necessary for that process improvements are reflected in the products and can be exploited commercially thus it invigorates the performance.
