Abstract
CHAGUENDO DORADO, ANTONIO JOSE; MORALES VELASCO, SANDRA and PRADO CERON, FABIO ALONSO. EVALUATION OF A URBAN AGRICULTURE PRACTICE WITH PET BOTTLES IN POPAYAN CITY. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.2, pp.57-64. ISSN 1692-3561. https://doi.org/10.18684/BSAA(15)57-64.
The investigation had as objective to assess three forms of planting in PET bottles as the practice of urban agriculture in the commune two of the municipality of Popayán. The experimental design was completely randomized in factorial of 2x3, Where it is sought to find the interaction between the 2 factors that were the species or crops sown (1: Cilantro - Coriandrum sativum var. Patimorado; 2: Lettuce - Lactuca sativa var. Simpson) and the degrees of inclination of the bottle (1 bottle: horizontal, 2 bottle: vertical, 3: bottle inclined 45°); planted two witnesses in pots to have the comparison of reference. Using the program SPSS 22, variables were analyzed agronomic characteristics such as height, coverage, force and biomass in the species planted. We applied three statistical tests; the first was to determine the homogeneity of the data by Kolmogorov - Smirnov; the second was Kruskal Wallis (p ≤ 0,05) to find differences between crops and finally the analysis of Mann Whitney of two independent samples (p ≤ 0,05). The results showed significant statistical differences (p ≤ 0,05) among the factors, evidencing best production in the bottle upright, which recorded higher values for force and fresh weight in the two species, due to the relationship between the size of the bowl and the root development - aerial biomass.
