This study evidences the knowledge and pedagogical practices developed during 20 years of the implementation of the Community Education Pedagogical Project (Ppec for its initials in Spanish) by the Colombian Family Welfare Institute with early childhood populations. The study is a systematization of 78 interviews that were conducted with the participation of 181 people. The analytical categories emerged from the historical reconstruction of the Ppec, as well as from the participants' own beliefs, objectives, knowledge and pedagogical practices and the implementation of the proposal. In the formulation of the Ppec there was evidence of a construction of policies based on pedagogical practices and that this process involved institutional reflection and critical evaluation of childhood and social development. The knowledge and pedagogical practices developed in relation to early childhood are characterized by being participative, significant, contextualized and humanized. These created a social fabric that is supported by community resources from the local context to form a transformative social project.
