Abstract
LEON-ROJAS, Alejandra. Migration and public policies: Venezuelan migrant childhood and adolescence in Medellín. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.3, pp.501-522. Epub Feb 06, 2023. ISSN 1692-715X. https://doi.org/10.11600/rlcsnj.20.3.4902.
This article questions whether Medellin's public policy for children and adolescents took into ac-count the context of Venezuelan migration when it was updated. This is an important issue because of the challenges posed for local governments in relation to migrants, especially children and ado-lescents, and the role of public policies in providing assistance and social integration to this population. Based on the analysis of the Public Policy Agreements - Repealed Agreement 86 of 2006 and Updated Agreement 143 of 2019 - it was identified that the provision of assistance for migrant children and adolescents was focused on the restoration of rights. This assistance was based on a social approach to risk in the repealed public policy and following its updating now depends on the incorporation of the differential approach with a specific focus on migrant children and adolescents.
