Introduction:
This study analyzes some forms of institutional violence seen in public healthcare in relation to space configuration, bureaucratic logic and the performance that institutional agents have on the behavior of patients and their companions while awaiting to receive medical care.
Content:
This was carried out with participant observation and twelve semi-structured interviews based on three categories: Waiting time, institutional production of subjection and alienation from the right to health.
Conclusions:
We argue that these forms of institutional violence are instrumental in the reproduction of the domination and exclusion exercised over the patients.
Keywords : Violence; health services; right to health.
