Abstract

FERNANDES, Estevão Rafael. Indigenous Homosexualities and Decoloniality -Some Reflections Based on Two-Spirit Criticism: algumas reflexões a partir das críticas two-spirit. Tabula Rasa [online]. 2014, n.20, pp.135-157. ISSN 1794-2489.

Our contribution in this article lies on gathering and analysing literature on indigenous homosexualities in Brazil, seeking to identify research potential in the light both of literature available on queer theory, and the two-spirit-approach authors and concepts, such as decoloniality and coloniality of gender. As we will see, there are several possibilities in terms of research, going beyond studies aiming to look at ethnic groups having homosexual practices or how they represent those practices, for example. The proposal here is to analyse forms of interaction and thoughts in the field of otherness (including internal ones); interstitial zones (boundaries) are marked by spaces for redefinitions of subjects and identities within the groups involved in these processes, which should not be viewed as "cultural losses".

Keywords : decoloniality; coloniality of gender; indigenous sexualities.
