In this article the post-conflict experiences in three countries were analyzed: Bosnia and Herzegovina, El Salvador and Sierra Leone, in order to draw some lessons that may be useful in the case of Colombia which is currently in talks with the guerrillas to end the conflict. It also wants to show the important role that education plays in post-conflict reconstruction, as it provides physical, psychosocial and cognitive protection. Besides, the short-term and long-term strategies were studied in order to combine them in a reasonable manner to achieve the social, political and economic development of the country.
