In this paper there's an overview of the foundation proposed from the methodological choice raised on a doctoral research that enquires about the pedagogical knowledge of university professors. There's a reference to the definition of the object of study from the main findings in the state of the art's construction and from theoretical reference made in the research process. There's also a reflexión on epistemological considerations regarding the defined methodology, as well as a specification on the analytic dimensions established to the approach.
