Editorial

This number of Hallazgos represents the beginning of a path in which some foundations of the publication have been redefined. First, a reflection was made in which the main point was thinking at what do we aim when defining the journal as a social sciences publication; on the other hand on how Hallazgos differentiates from the large number of social sciences journals worldwide. The road to respond to these questions was long, but led us to understand the need to delimit the topics addressed in the journal. So, after studying which areas has a lot to explore and is not as covered as other fields, we determined —knowing it was debatable— that by socials sciences shall be understood the literature, history, anthropology, and sociology, and that these disciplines will converge around a single theme: Latin American studies. This last aspect was not exclusive in the articles in this issue since such change is a process and involves rearranging all those who participate in this journal (authors, readers, editorial team, members of committees, etc.). Nevertheless, the tendency from now on will be to set eyes on Latin America, without this being an impediment for making comparative studies or having e a dialogue with other continents and cultures. The change was due to the need to empower a specific subject area which allows Hallazgos to become a compelling journal in such area in Colombia and worldwide. Also, this specialization will enable greater achievements in terms of indexing, visibility and impact.

On the other hand, it is important to emphasize that great advances made in the internationalization of the journal, aspect that can be noted through the members of the editorial and scientific committee; in addition to the inclusion of our publication in Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online), resulting from the scientific and editorial quality we have reached in this process of eleven year.

The thematic focus of this number is art history. This subject was especially developed by students of the master's degree program of Art History from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Colombia), who we thank very much their permanent participation in Hallazgos. In the perspective research section we have the participation of three authors from foreign institutions (England, Costa Rica and Canada), and the topics we find are literary studies, art, philosophical anthropology, audiovisual narratives, studies of Latin American identity, Latin American cities, sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in Colombia, afro descendants in Bogota, and the analytical category of the gender.

We thank those who are part of number 23 of Hallazgos, either as authors, readers, peer reviewers, members of committees or visualizing agents of our publication.
