Abstract

MORENO ORTIZ, Juan Carlos. Current crisis and evolution of epistemology. Co-herencia [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.9, pp.169-190. ISSN 1794-5887.

It is not easy to reflect upon epistemology today, for three special reasons: because the crisis which has taken place in epistemology, defined as something specifically modern; because of its ever more tangled and disguised relationship with fields like Cognitive Theory and Philosophy of Science, among others; and because of its increasing naturalization. Epistemology has stopped being the a priori normative and universal reflection, pretending to establish the essential conditions of rationality, in order to evolve towards a critical and plural reflection, whose normative function consists on offering operating and pragmatic criteria to reconcile the advances of knowledge. This article synthesizes the changes operated on contemporary epistemology and identifies new ways of reflecting about regulation and knowledge, other than the epistemological proposals developed in modernity.

Keywords : Epistemology; regulation; crisis; naturalization; alternatives.
