CRUZ PICON, Pablo Emilio and HERNANDEZ CORREA, Lady Jazmmin. The competency-based pedagogical trend: towards a new quality of education. sophia [online]. 2022, vol.18, n.1, pp.5-5. Epub Aug 19, 2023. ISSN 1794-8932. https://doi.org/10.18634/sophiaj.18v.1i.1084.
The essential purpose of this article is to reflect on the relationship between the competency-based approach and the notion of educational quality. The methodology followed by this research was of a qualitative approach using the exploratory, descriptive and correlational type. The methodical exercise was based on the analytical review of the documentary record so that, by this means, the analysis of various documents consulted online was carried out, which allowed to sustain the direct relationship between the examined variables, in relation to their principles, characteristics, applicability and correspondence. The results show that competency education is built in conjunction with the socio-pedagogical, cultural and political realities of the educational context to obtain quality criteria. It is concluded that current education is oriented around a quality policy that requires a trend of training in skills.
