Abstract
PEREZ, Alejandro; DOMINGUEZ, Soto and CORTES GALLEGO, Mónica María. Public policies for women in Colombia: The double condition of mother and working woman in 20th century legislation. Entramado [online]. 2012, vol.8, n.1, pp.72-88. ISSN 1900-3803.
This article is the preliminary result of an ongoing research study titled "Mercantile order: epistemological and institutional components", which is a qualitative study whose purpose is to provide a closer understanding of the policies of integration of women into the labor market. Although women had traditionally been segregated to certain non-business activities, such as homemakers, and to certain occupations, such as school teachers and nurses, the history of the twentieth century reveals the opening of spaces for women. Even though it was not until the end of the century that true equality was offered, spaces were indeed tentatively opened to allow women to participate in their dual roles as working women and mothers.
Keywords : Maternity; female work; maternity policies; working women; mother's role.
