Abstract
IMBEAULT, Marc. The fate of the civilians in the new just war: a canadian approach. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.22, pp.23-36. ISSN 1900-6586. https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.322.
This text briefly introduces the concept of a “new just war” and attempts to situate Canadian military professional ethics based on respect for human dignity, the service to Canada and obedience to legal authority in the context of intervention in Afghanistan. The discussion of official texts dating back to the time when Canada’s involvement was most intense and that of a particular case, shows the “natural tension” between the obligation to obtain results and of respecting high ethical standards.
Keywords : Canadian military professional ethics; human dignity; intervention in Afghanistan; legal authority; new just war; service of Canada.
