Abstract

Objective.
To analyze the perception of same-sex adoption in the LGBTI community of Sincelejo, Colombia.
Methodology.
The research was oriented under a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method and the data were collected using semi-structured interviews and focal groups.
Results.
The analysis points out that not all people in the LGBTI community agree with adoption, either because of their lifestyle or the desire not to have children.
Conclusion.
People in the LGBTI community have suffered discrimination because of their sexual orientation, which has been an obstacle to guaranteeing their rights. It is a reality that there are different types of families, but even to establish a same-sex family by adoption, it is necessary to have the support of the State, prepare society and equalize these people in terms of parental training.
