Methodology:
The research was based on Participatory Action Research. In this sense, the research approach, its development and results were agreed and analyzed between the researcher and the people participating in the research process.
Conclusions:
The armed conflict in the municipality of Riosucio (Caldas) was embedded in historical and imaginary dynamics that had an impact on expressions of violence. These imaginaries were configured in the settlement processes that gave rise to the existence of various identities. The Volunteer Fire Department deployed three strategies to understand, mitigate and transform the armed conflict and its hatching in identity conflicts: humanitarian action, the formation of the indigenous fire brigade, and participation in reincorporation processes.
