Abstract

FAJARDO M. ING AMB., Daniela  and  AGUDELO V M.SC., Rafael Nikolay. Water quality simulation in the rio alto Bogotá sub-basin stretch in 2014-2016 period based on the HEC-RAS model. rev. colombiana cienc. anim. Recia [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.2, pp.43-55.  Epub May 07, 2020. ISSN 2027-4297.  https://doi.org/10.24188/recia.v11.n1.2019.720.

This work presented a quantitative study in the rio alto Bogotá sub-basin with relation to the chemical and biological conditions in which is found the studied river stretch and state regarding the quality as hydric resource. In this case, is was performed an analysis of water temperature (T° water), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Dissolved Oxygen (OD) parameters. The following research was grounded on the collection and analysis of information, to be later applied to the free software, HEC-RAS (ver. 5.0.4). The hydrodynamic calibration was conducted from the velocities taken in fieldwork, tracing a difference between the real values and output values of 22.58%. Once calibrated the hydraulic model, water and quality simulation is conducted from the conditions of greatest vulnerability hydric resources in 2014-2016 period and subsequently, its calibration where the values of the parameters of nutrients and solar radiation were adjusted, thus obtaining an average error variation of the 1-5%. Followed the calibration, the results were represented cartographically to facilitate the understanding of the simulated parameters and demonstrate the behavior in the river. This were compared to the proposed water quality objectives by the environmental authorities for class I and II (agreement CAR No. 43/2006), encountering that regarding BOD and OD the high contaminant loads received by the river would not result in the achievement of the hydric quality objectives.
