Abstract

SALAZAR MENDOZA, FLOR DE MARÍA. Novohispanos Traces in the Formation of the National State. Civic Celebrations in San Luis Potosí, Mexico in the 1820's. Front. hist. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.1, pp.174-199. ISSN 2027-4688.

This article studies two Colonial celebrations: the Jura de los Reyes and the Paseo del Pendón Real. The main purpose is demonstrate that the convention/protocol that was observed in these two celebrations, prevailed in the civic commemorations of Independence during the 1820's in the city of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. New Spain colonial vestiges are perceptible in the festivities of the new nation.
