The image was one of the strategies used to explain and expand the devotion of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, theological debate severely criticized between the 15th and 17th centuries. According to the place in which they were located in the Franciscan grounds (cloisters and temple), they were pieces of the mechanisms through which the Order transmitted the scotist cultural capital whose object was to assure the correct appropriation of the devotion and the historical participation of the Order in such a controversy.
