Abstract

This article builds on the analysis carried out on the new challenges of criminology higher education (Navasquillo Lorda, 2016), which highlights the need for a process of change, specialization of the contents of the criminology, and areas of work exit of graduates in criminology. Three proposals are made here and consider to the reader's reflection: The first: Possibility of making changes at the legislative level to establish the professional outings of the graduate in criminology, determine their scope and objectives in the areas deemed appropriate and related to studies of the causes of crime and prevention. Two: The prevailing need to specialize in general criminology in fields specialized in criminal problems, since new phenomena cannot continue to be addressed with old and general knowledge, and third: the promotion and strengthening of investigation generating knowledge in criminal matters, so that there is knowledge available to the scholar of the criminal, as well as for public policy planners.
