Abstract

ROGNA, Juan Ezequiel. THE “READER HERO” IN CONTEMPORARY ARGENTINE NARRATIVE. THREE LITERARY VARIATIONS AFTER THE REVOLUTIONARY DEFEAT. perifrasis. rev.lit.teor.crit. [online]. 2019, vol.10, n.20, pp.29-44. ISSN 2145-8987.  https://doi.org/10.25025/perifrasis201910.20.02.

This article aims to analyse different modellings of the “reader hero” in contemporary Argentine narrative. To this end, I will adopt the concept developed by Carlos Gamerro (“En toda la historia argentina…”) on the basis of Ricardo Piglia’s studies (El ultimo lector) and I will look into its productivity in portraying the subjective makeup of the young activists of the 1960s and 1970s. I will then approach the novelsLa aventura de los bustos de Eva,El camino de IdaandCinein order to describe the different new forms of the “reader hero” in a historical/cultural context marked by the defeat of that revolutionary project.

Keywords : contemporary argentine narrative; reader hero; Ricardo Piglia; Juan Martini; Carlos Gamerro..
