Abstract

FIGUERAS, ALBERTO JOSÉ et al. A CONTRIBUTION TO THE DISCUSSION ABOUT CONVERGENCE IN ARGENTINA: THE IMPORTANCE OF STRUCTURAL CHANGES. Finanz. polit. econ. [online]. 2014, vol.6, n.2, pp.287-316. ISSN 2248-6046.  https://doi.org/10.14718/revfinanzpolitecon.2014.6.2.4.

Since Argentinian provinces' economic growth is determined by idiosyncratic behaviour, its analysis is a valuable contribution to the studies on regional convergence. This paper takes on an analysis of Sigma and Beta convergence in Argentinian provinces for the 1970 -2007 period, with variables that include human capital, economies of scale, investment and fiscal policy. It also focuses on the effect structural changes exert upon provinces' economic growth -with their different productive structures- and its impact on the regional convergence/divergence in Argentina.

Keywords : Growth; convergence; regional economies.
