Abstract
VALERO JULIO, Edgar. Social Work in Venezuelan Substitution Industrialization: The Case of Empresas Mendoza. Trab. soc. [online]. 2017, n.19, pp.13-29. ISSN 2256-5493.
The article analyzes occupational wellbeing practices at Empresas Mendoza (1926-1990), the most important industrial group during the substitution industrialization phase in Venezuela, as well as the contribution of Social Work to the structuring and professionalization of the most advanced corporate assistance system since the mid- 20th century. The autonomy and dynamics of social workers, together with the paternalistic values of the company's management, made it possible to create an outstanding business field for social work. Furthermore, it facilitated and interesting process of self-criticism and reformulation of Social Work in the 1970s.
