Abstract

MAYA PEREZ, Eloy; GALINDO SOTO, Jonathan Alejandro  and  JIMENEZ GONZALEZ, María de Jesús. Anger and Nervousness as Signs of Emotional Distress in Long-Distance Marriages. Trab. soc. [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.2, pp.27-51. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v21n2.75263.

The article analyzes the relation between the absence of the male spouse due to migration and the emotional distress of the partner, on the basis of the following question: how are anger and nervousness represented in the experience of long-distance marriages of women from the community of Caxuxi, Hidalgo, Mexico, whose spouses have migrated? Data gathered from interviews and body mapping techniques made possible the in-depth study of this emotional distress and its connection with the body. The fact that women are unable to control these feelings produces sadness and guilt, which, in turn, affects the relationship. The description of how this occurs is one of the main findings of our research.

Keywords : anger; emotional distress; marriage; migration; nervousness; women.
