Abstract
RESTREPO ECHAVARRIA, Néstor Julián; CASAS, Diego Alejandro and PATINO, Illimani. THE COLOMBIAN LEFT: AN ANALYSIS OF ELECTORAL BEHAVIOR IN THE 21st CENTURY. Novum Jus [online]. 2021, vol.15, n.1, pp.41-68. Epub July 28, 2022. ISSN 1692-6013. https://doi.org/10.14718/novumjus.2021.15.1.3.
This article seeks to analyze the institutional evolution and electoral behavior of the Colombian Left in the period following the 2003 Political Constitution reform, which established an electoral threshold to confront the phenomenon of high volatility in the Colombian party system. To this end, the work is developed from an institutionalist approach, using a documental qualitative method as well as data systematization and analysis. This seeks to characterize the different Leftist movements and political parties, and, later, identify the convergences and divergences they have had at the institutional, electoral, and programmatic level in three periods: (1) prior to the 2003 political reform, (2) the period from 2004 until the 2010 presidential elections, and (3) the beginning of the first administration of former President Juan Manuel Santos until the signing of the Peace Agreements with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia- People's Army (FARC-EP).
