Abstract

SALAZAR, Alba Silva. Geopolitics and the Pandemic: Chinese and Russian Expansion on the International Stage. rev.relac.int.estrateg.segur. [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.2, pp.39-46.  Epub Dec 31, 2021. ISSN 1909-3063.  https://doi.org/10.18359/ries.5721.

This essay discusses the geopolitical approaches developed by China and Russia from their capacities: cooperation and soft power towards a specific objective. This objective is to promote their economies and destabilize the balance the United States created as the hegemonic power. We consider how state actors take part in restructuring global power, governing the health crisis, closing borders, and the socio-territorial implications of COVID-19.

Keywords : Geopolitics; COVID-19; soft power; China; Russia; United States; international relations.
